ELEMENT - an indecomposable simple substance, an integral part of a complex whole, which is impossible (not required) to be divided into component parts when considered; an element is also called the foundation, the beginning of something (numbers are elements of mathematics); the definition of elementary concepts is the central task of epistemology and semantics.
